World-Class Expertise by Workhaus

Our exhibition fit out skills have achieved a world-class reputation. From the Natural History Museum to York Minster and beyond, our services are called upon by some of the most prestigious venues to conserve and display many artefacts of cultural significance for thousands of visitors every year.
Read on to discover the unique set of in-house skills our team brings to each and every project

Build Quality

Exhibition fit out is our passion. It is a privilege for us to create completely bespoke fittings and displays to suit each unique environment. The team combine a mix of hand-finishing with technical expertise to solve problems and create engaging visitor experiences. Our in-house facility also contains a glass cutting facility and the latest technology to create mock-ups and 3D models to nail each museum designer’s brief.

Conservation

Exhibition fit out is a vital part of the preservation and conservation of precious artefacts around the world. We carry out air exchange testing as standard in order to protect against dust, humidity and pests. As well as conservation, our exhibition fit out must engage your visitors and display the objects to best effect in a setting that is fitting to their origin. We blend technology with design to create an appealing visitor experience.

Security

A large part of our exhibition fit out process is liaising with museum designers  and curators to find effective solutions to a wide array of problems that can arise when we deal with precious objects.

It is important that we minimise disruption to the rest of the venue during each fit out. We also ensure that each museum exhibition design is secure from bumps, scratches and theft.

Scenes and Themes

The Workhaus team also includes traditional craftspeople who specialise in artistic design. Our creativity allows us to create highly bespoke background art, custom plinths, graphics and lighting to suit the feel of the exhibition.

Past projects include creating realistic and impressive effects out of a variety of materials such as hand-carved wooden butterflies, strata effect plinths and a bumpy planet surface.

Our Skills

No other museum contractor has so many skills all under one roof!  Our skills include joinery, metal fabrication, props, models, sculpture, interactives, museum display cases and mount making. This gives us total control over quality, budget and time. Whether it’s the bow of a Viking long ship or a 6 tonne army tank replica, we can make it happen.

‘I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all of you for all your hard work and going 110% throughout this project. I know there were late nights and lots of red pen but you guys have delivered a fantastic gallery in a crazy time frame. Thank you for all the little details which really make it top notch.’
